Kootenay Columbia College (KCC) is seeking an office assistant for our Nelson campus. KCC has been a well-established post-secondary College since 1996. KCC is designated by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills and accredited by the Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation (CMTCA). Our faculty consists of passionate individuals, many of whom run successful private practices or have decades of experience working in their modalities.


Position: Office Assistant
Job Type: Permanent, Part-Time
Location: Nelson, BC
Expected Start Date: May 2024
Reports to: Dean, VP Operations
Hours per week: 40 hours/week
Salary: $18 to $20 per hour depending on experience


To be successful as an Office Assistant, candidates must be committed to developing, maintaining, and demonstrating the following:


Education and Experience
  • High school diploma required.
  • A college or university degree is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
  • Relevant professional skills and knowledge relating to office and clerical work.
  • Ability to communicate well with program administrators and instructors.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • High standard of behavior, a professional attitude and commitment to quality service
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other instructors and staff.
  • Technological skills and adaptability to enhance performance.
  • Experience working in a college setting is an asset.
 Duties and Responsibilities (Office Assistant)

  • .Relay messages, respond to inquiries and provide information as required.
  • Communicate with staff, students, and the public. Answer their questions and direct them to appropriate offices and meeting rooms.
  • Display familiarity with various computers, word processing, and Google Suite programs.
  • Draft forms, correspondence, student handbooks, school communication, and reports.
  • Perform clerical duties: Mail distribution, collating, filing, recording, sorting, duplicating, faxing, laminating, and related duties.
  • Support administrative procedures and directives.
  • Support our clinic staff as needed- checking on supplies and helping to organise clinic events.
  • Student Events – create and support student events.
  • Public relations: Deliver leaflets and posters to communities, inform the public about clinics and programs, and connect with communities to share information about clinic activities.
  • Social media: Oversee social media posts to ensure the public is informed about current events, clinics, and programs.
  • Collaborate with administrative staff and faculty and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary projects to enrich the academic environment. Respond to emails from students, staff, and fellow faculty promptly.
