Biomedical Science Instructor

As a Biomedical Sciences Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping students’ knowledge, critical thinking, and practical skills to excel in their careers as healthcare professionals.

 

Kootenay Columbia College (KCC) is a well-established post-secondary college that has been in operation since 1996. KCCIHS is designated by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills. The heart of KCC lies in our amazing teaching faculty and students. Our faculty consists of passionate individuals, many of whom run successful private practices or have decades of experience working in their modalities.

 

Job Type: Full and part-time positions – dependent upon course load
Compensation: $50 – $60 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
Benefits: Dental care, extended health care
Hours: Varies depending on courses taught, generally between Mon-Fri, 8 am to 5 pm.

 

Requirements:

Successful candidates must hold a Master of Science degree, be a medical doctor, or be a healthcare professional in a regulated profession such as nursing, physiotherapy, kinesiology, chiropractic, massage therapy, naturopathy, traditional Chinese medicine, or another similar profession.

 

Previous experience in teaching at the college level, delivering lectures and guiding students is preferred but not required. Prior experience or professional exposure in the biomedical field, such as research, clinical practice, or industry, will be highly valued.

● Ability to use tact and good judgment to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information seen or heard.
● Attention to detail and an appreciation for orderliness.

 

Responsibilities:

● Deliver engaging and comprehensive lectures and practical demonstrations to students pursuing careers in health care, including, but not limited to, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Massage Therapy and Holistic Nutrition.
● Collaborate with the academic team to design and update curriculums, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, professional standards, and academic standards.
● Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and student support, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
● Evaluate students’ performance, grade assignments, and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their academic growth.
● Stay updated with advancements in biomedical sciences, integrating relevant findings into the curriculum and sharing your expertise with colleagues and students.
● Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance teaching techniques, subject matter expertise, and educational methodologies.
● Collaborate with fellow faculty members, participate in departmental meetings, and engage in interdisciplinary projects to enrich the academic environment.
