Meet Dr. Monica Ander: Leader, Educator & Expert in Traditional Chinese Medicine
At Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences, we take pride in recognizing the educators who elevate our programs and shape the future of integrative health.
Dr. Monica Ander is one of those exceptional individuals, a clinician, academic, and mentor whose impact reaches far beyond the classroom.
A Distinguished Academic & Clinical Background
Dr. Ander holds a Doctor of Acupuncture with a Chinese Herbal Medicine Specialization, awarded through the Pacific College of Health and Science (USA). While her doctoral training took place in the United States, her foundational education is firmly rooted in Canada.
She completed a rigorous 3,450-hour Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine, an intensive four-and-a-half-year program that built the clinical and theoretical foundation she continues to carry into her practice today.
She is licensed in British Columbia as both a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCMP) and Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac).
She also holds a Diploma in Manual Osteopathic Practice (D.OMP), expanding her integrative approach to patient care.
Why She Pursued a Doctorate in the United States
Dr. Ander chose to pursue her doctoral studies outside Canada to access the most advanced level of TCM education currently available. This research-driven, doctoral-level training builds on more than 20 years of clinical experience, strengthening her reputation as an authority in:
• Integrative pain management
• Acupuncture
• Herbal medicine
• Evidence-informed clinical practice
Her patients and colleagues consistently recognize her ability to bring depth, precision, and compassion to every clinical encounter.
A Mentor Who Shapes the Next Generation of Practitioners
At Kootenay Columbia College, Dr. Ander serves as a professor and the TCM Academic Coordinator, teaching core courses in acupuncture, herbal medicine, and clinical practice.
Students value her for her clear teaching style, deep subject-matter expertise, real-world clinical insight, and her ability to bridge academic theory with practical, hands-on application.
