Dr. Unnati Hunjan

Vice President, Academics & Operations

Dr. Unnati Hunjan is an entrepreneur, neuropsychologist, and former professor with a distinguished career spanning business, education, and healthcare. She is the founder of Therapeutic Paws and a founding member of Supertails. Her expertise in neuropsychology, business strategy, and education allows her to bridge the gap between academia and industry, fostering innovation and leadership in various sectors.

Currently, the Vice President of Academics & Operations at Kootenay Columbia College (KCC), Dr. Hunjan applies her extensive experience to advancing post-secondary education, fostering industry-aligned career pathways, and ensuring students receive high-quality, practical learning experiences that translate into real-world success.

Her contributions have earned her prestigious awards from the Government of India, along with recognition as one of the Top 50 Women Leaders in the Education Industry. She has been an invited lecturer at leading universities in the U.S. and a TEDx speaker, sharing her insights on education, neuropsychology, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

Lilith comes to KCC with a strong background in administration and communications. She has a lifelong interest in a holistic approach to health. Her wilderness farm upbringing gave her the opportunity to learn firsthand about the importance of knowing how to maintain the health of humans and critters.

 

Lilith holds a Diploma in Computer Information Systems from Selkirk College and a Bachelor of Commerce from Royal Roads University and has spent a number of years working in administrative roles in academic and medical-related organizations. These skills enable her to be of support to students, faculty, and fellow staff in her role as Administrator.

He applies precision and strategic insight to his work, ensuring efficiency and informed financial decision-making. His expertise makes him a key contributor in any financial environment

Aziz is a dedicated customer service professional with over four years of experience in delivering exceptional client support. Known for strong collaboration, interpersonal, and multitasking skills, she thrives in fast-paced environments that require organization and proactive problem-solving.

With a team-oriented mindset, Aziz consistently enhances customer experiences by providing efficient and empathetic service. Her ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail makes her a valuable asset to any organization.

Passionate about building positive connections and ensuring seamless customer interactions, Aziz is committed to contributing to workplace success through reliability, professionalism, and strong communication skills.

Rhea moved to Nelson in February 2025, drawn by the area’s natural beauty and the promise of a quieter, more peaceful lifestyle. She quickly fell in love with the stunning surroundings and the strong sense of community the town offers.

 

Since 2020, Rhea has built a solid career in administration, gaining experience both locally and internationally. Her professional journey has taken her through diverse sectors—including the casino industry, construction, the automotive industry, and now the academic field. These varied experiences have equipped her with a broad skill set and the adaptability needed to thrive in her role.

 

Outside of work, Rhea enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, especially walking in the sunshine and exploring the many parks and trails around Nelson. She finds inspiration and balance in nature, which complements her professional life and enhances her overall well-being.

Parham Kalantari

Marketing Manager

Parham leads the marketing team at Kootenay Columbia College, overseeing the strategy, creative direction, and execution that connect the college with students across Canada. With over eight years of experience in digital marketing, he has worked in both education and service sectors, building campaigns and systems that grow brands and deliver measurable results.


He holds an MBA from University Canada West and an engineering degree from Sharif University of Technology, where he developed the analytical skills and problem-solving mindset that now underpin his leadership style.


Parham’s approach balances strategy with execution, ensuring the team’s work is creative, purposeful, and aligned with the college’s long-term vision. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, cooking, and hiking new trails.

Monica Ander

TCM Academic Coordinator

Monica began her journey in the healing arts as a personal trainer in 1998.  She completed the Thai Massage Practitioner Program and Therapeutic Touch Training, which made her hungry for more knowledge in different modalities such as Trigger Point Therapy, Raindrop Therapy, and Thai Herbal Compress Massage.

 

After years of practicing massage, Monica began working with Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is currently registered as a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Chinese Herbalist, and Acupuncturist through the CTCMA. Monica also received her Diploma in Manual Osteopathic Practice and has been practicing these life-changing techniques, focusing on acute and chronic pain management in her treatments, with great success and results. She takes pride in her intent listening skills and focused treatments, sure to provide results. We are delighted to have her on our team in the TCM program.

Dedicated administrative assistant and proud mother of three, I’m known for my strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities with grace. I’m also a passionate Sunday school teacher, committed to guiding and inspiring young minds as they grow in their relationship with God. Outside of work and ministry, I love to dance and bring joy, energy, and creativity into everything I do.

Sunit’s professional tenure highlights his capabilities in higher education diplomacy and international engagement. Sunit holds multiple academic qualifications in Management and the Sciences and is professionally certified in Project Management and Six Sigma. His diverse expertise spans program development, financial oversight, policy advocacy, faculty development, and cross-border academic policy. Hello, I’m Dr Rita Behl , An Ayurvedic Doctor, Registered Dietitian, Certified Yoga Instructor and a passionate Holistic Nutrition Diploma Instructor at Kootenay Columbia College.

Teaching is not just my profession,  it’s my calling. I thrive on sharing my knowledge and inspiring students to embrace the transformative power of nutrition.

What I love most is seeing my students grow, not just academically, but in their understanding of how holistic health can enrich their lives and the lives of others.

A little about me: I believe in balance—mind, body, and spirit—and I strive to live this philosophy daily.

My advice to you? Stay curious, ask questions, and remember that small, consistent changes can lead to profound, lifelong wellness.

Becky Kalkat

Instructor

Becky is a dedicated Medical Office Assistant (MOA) with over 31 years of experience. She began her career supporting a GP and has since worked in a variety of medical settings, from physiotherapy to laser surgery assistance, and spent 21 years working alongside a pediatrician. In 2018, she made the decision to step back from work to care for her terminally ill father, during which time she developed a new focus—teaching.

For the past five years, Becky has been sharing her extensive knowledge and experience with students. She is passionate about imparting everything she has learned throughout her career to help her students succeed.

For her, a student’s success is a reflection of her own. At KCC, Becky continues to inspire and educate, empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Graphic Designer

Alethia is a graphic designer with 7 years of experience, beginning her career in Mexico’s luxury fashion retail sector, she built expertise in various design fields, including creative marketing campaign development, web design, photography, and video editing, among others. She also ventured into freelancing, refining her skills in branding and consulting for marketing and design projects. At KCC, Alethia ensures brand consistency, contributes to creative concept development, and designs both digital and print media. She also creates assets for websites, social media, and presentations.

Now living in Victoria, BC, she moved to Canada in 2023 to pursue a diploma in UX/UI design to further enhance her skills. Outside of work, she has a passion for languages and is currently studying French.
