Dr. Unnati Hunjan is an entrepreneur, neuropsychologist, and former professor with a distinguished career spanning business, education, and healthcare. She is the founder of Therapeutic Paws and a founding member of Supertails. Her expertise in neuropsychology, business strategy, and education allows her to bridge the gap between academia and industry, fostering innovation and leadership in various sectors.

Currently, the Regional Director of Kootenay Columbia College (KCC), Dr. Hunjan applies her extensive experience to advancing post-secondary education, fostering industry-aligned career pathways, and ensuring students receive high-quality, practical learning experiences that translate into real-world success.

Her contributions have earned her prestigious awards from the Government of India, along with recognition as one of the Top 50 Women Leaders in the Education Industry. She has been an invited lecturer at leading universities in the U.S. and a TEDx speaker, sharing her insights on education, neuropsychology, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

Lilith comes to KCC with a strong background in administration and communications. She has a lifelong interest in a holistic approach to health. Her wilderness farm upbringing gave her the opportunity to learn firsthand about the importance of knowing how to maintain the health of humans and critters.

 

Lilith holds a Diploma in Computer Information Systems from Selkirk College and a Bachelor of Commerce from Royal Roads University and has spent a number of years working in administrative roles in academic and medical-related organizations. These skills enable her to be of support to students, faculty, and fellow staff in her role as Administrator.

Melanie is a detail-oriented administrative professional with 15 years of combined local and international experience in both academic and corporate sectors. She stands out in providing adept support to leadership, students, and faculty within the culturally diverse environment of a post-secondary institution. Holding a Master’s Degree in Educational Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, she is dedicated to enhancing productivity and operational efficiency at KCC. In 2023, Melanie and her family landed in the wonderful town of Nelson.

Chris Holland is a Communications Specialist with a diverse work history and a grounded understanding of the needs of businesses. With a degree in Communication from Simon Fraser University, Chris launched his career by creating a one-person traveling promotional show for the opening of Science World. Moving into the raucous world of hospitality promotions Chris spent the next decade pioneering new ways to promote, market, and advertise using guerrilla tactics fusion campaigns, and hosting the grandest events on the most impoverished of budgets.

 

 

 

The adventure continued as Chris spent the next six years in the corporate world developing sales strategies, resource/account management, professional training, development, human resource consultation, and advertising/marketing analysis skills. For the past 12 years, Chris has been working with entrepreneurs, social enterprises, community organizations, education institutions, and national corporations providing a unique mix of inspiration, education, and action. Residing in the Kootenay’s Chris Holland has cultivated his knowledge and experience to a new plateau through Juggernaut Marketing and Communications. The motivation behind this company is the passion Chris has to truly live the fusion life.

TCM Clinic Coordinator

Originally from Calgary, Allie completed her BSc in Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary before moving to Nelson to pursue studies in Chinese Medicine. After graduating from Kootenay Columbia College as a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner, she now practices at an integrative clinic in town called Active Balance when not assisting with the KCC TCM clinic.

She enjoys the dynamic yet easygoing Kootenay lifestyle and connecting with other practitioners in a community that embraces health and wellness. Allie is excited to be joining the KCC team to help coordinate the Chinese Medicine clinic. She is eager to cultivate a vibrant space for students, staff, and patients!

Annie Fortin

Massage Student Clinic Manager

Annie is a graduate of the first cohort of Registered Massage Therapy students at Kootenay Columbia College. She is a successful clinic owner and massage practitioner.

 

Annie has a genuine passion for wanting to help people, which led her to the health profession of massage therapy. She graduated from the Registered Massage Therapist Program here at Kootenay Columbia College (KCC) in 2019 and opened her own private practice, Blue Lotus Therapeutics. She knows firsthand the transformative power of manual therapy. She holds also a diploma in business administration and has experience owning a retail store, and a dog day hiking business. Annie finds joy in helping others pursue their dreams, which is what leads her back to KCC. She enjoys camping, traveling, and being on the water and in the mountains.

Paul Gaucher

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Program Manager

Paul earned a diploma in the Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (DTCM) program in 2006 from the former Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences (ACOS). 

 

This 4-year full-time program involved intensive studying of acupuncture, herbalism, diet, nutrition, and emotional health.

 

He’s been an instructor for 4 years (at ACOS and KCC) and Paul is now in his 16th year of private family practice at his clinic in Creston, BC.

 

At a young age, Paul had a fascination with nature and biology. This innate curiosity about life inspired him to study the patterns of the natural world, and ultimately to embrace TCM. 

Paul has a passion for bringing people to their full health potential and seeks to bridge the roots of the guiding principles of TCM with modern health challenges. He’s genuinely motivated to help individuals with a wide range of health issues.

 

Paul is an instructor, clinic supervisor, and our Program Manager within the TCM program at KCC. His primary responsibilities include ensuring program alignment with CTCMA and Canadian healthcare standards, contributing to the development and management of course curriculum, and overseeing instruction to meet the objectives of the TCM Program. Paul is the main point of contact for clinic supervisors, instructors, dispensary, and clinic coordinators.

Imalsha is an accomplished HR professional with over seven years of experience, including multinational companies and global exposure, complemented by a strong educational background in Human Resources. In addition to her Master’s in Business Administration in Canada, she has worked across various industries, with a particular focus on the education sector, and has always been deeply passionate about supporting staff and fostering positive work environments.

 

Imalsha actively engages with the CPHR BC & Yukon community and brings a wealth of experience and expertise in streamlining HR processes to make the team’s work life easier. She currently oversees HR processes across KCC campuses and handles all HR documentation.

 

Imalsha plays a vital role in collaborating with senior management to ensure effective people management practices. Her unwavering dedication to working with and supporting staff is central to her approach, and she takes great pride in helping the team succeed and thrive.

Medha is a dedicated educator and researcher with a strong background in mathematics and e-learning. She has spent the last four years working in various roles, including math instructor, product developer, and subject expert for multiple e-learning platforms.

Medha holds a Research Analysis certificate from Humber College and currently works as a Math teacher at Spirit of Math School and an instructor at Niagara College. Her passion for education has led her to explore the evolving landscape of e-learning marketing, educational goals, and insights into modern education systems.

Beyond teaching, Medha has authored a manuscript on Vedic mathematics, qualified for IIT JAM, and runs a YouTube channel (SUMSUP), where she shares her expertise with a broader audience. Her diverse professional experience has equipped her with strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, allowing her to manage multiple tasks efficiently and collaborate effectively with industry professionals.

Pushpinder Singh is a seasoned Full-Stack Web Developer, educator, and entrepreneur with over Eight years of experience in building scalable and high-performance web applications. As the founder and CEO of CosmicFinite Inc., an innovative IT solutions company, he leads a team of experts in developing cutting-edge digital solutions for businesses worldwide. Simultaneously, he serves as a Web Developer Instructor at KCC, bridging the gap between industry and academia by equipping students with real-world technical expertise.

 

With extensive proficiency in React.js, AngularJS, Laravel, API integration, and e-commerce solutions, Pushpinder has played a pivotal role in developing intelligent transportation systems, high-traffic e-commerce platforms, and complex real-time data applications. As a Lead Software Developer at Stinson ITS Inc., he spearheads groundbreaking projects that integrate AI-driven traffic analytics, IoT devices, and cloud-based infrastructures.

 

At KCC, Pushpinder fosters an engaging and hands-on learning environment, guiding students through project-based instruction that mirrors industry demands. His mentorship and expertise in full-stack web development prepare students for successful careers in technology.

 

Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Punjab Technical University and a diploma in Mobile Application Development from Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles, Pushpinder continuously expands his knowledge in advanced React, Redux, and Golang.

 

Beyond his professional engagements, he is an active participant in tech conferences, trade shows, and industry innovation forums. His passion for technology, entrepreneurship, and education makes him a driving force in shaping the future of web development and IT solutions.

She began her career supporting a GP and has since worked in a variety of medical settings, from physiotherapy to laser surgery assistance, and spent 21 years working alongside a pediatrician. In 2018, she made the decision to step back from work to care for her terminally ill father, during which time she developed a new focus—teaching.

For the past five years, Becky has been sharing her extensive knowledge and experience with students. She is passionate about imparting everything she has learned throughout her career to help her students succeed.

For her, a student’s success is a reflection of her own. At KCC, Becky continues to inspire and educate, empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Naz Serter is a nutritionist, educator, and community advocate who believes that food is more than just fuel—it’s a tool for connection, healing, and empowerment. With a Bachelor’s in Nutrition & Dietetics, a Master’s in Phytotherapy, and a Post-Degree Diploma in Project & Business Management from Vancouver Community College, she combines science with real-world application, helping students and communities build healthier, more informed lives.

With over a decade of experience in nutrition education, program development, and corporate wellness, Naz has led training programs, designed curricula, and facilitated hands-on workshops that bring nutrition to life. Her work spans from mentoring students and training professionals to guiding organizations in creating meaningful wellness initiatives.

Beyond teaching, Naz is passionate about community-driven projects. She played a key role in the Foodskills Project, helping high school students and their families develop essential cooking and nutrition skills.

Outside of her professional work, Naz finds inspiration through travel, exploring different cultures, and experiencing new foods—often recreating them in her own kitchen. She loves cooking, experimenting with flavors, and sharing meals with friends and family. An outdoor enthusiast, she enjoys hiking, diving, and immersing herself in nature, always seeking new adventures that fuel both her body and mind.

My name is Julia. I am originally from Trinidad. I migrated to Canada in 2010. I am the mom of Hari (12) and Divya (10). I have been in the field of education for 24 years. I am grateful for the opportunity to teach and learn symbiotically alongside students and children. 

 

I taught High school in Trinidad. I have been in the ECE field as an educator and ECE manager since 2011. I have been an ECE Instructor since 2022. I teach the basic ECE program, ECEA program, and the Infant Toddler program at private colleges in the Lower Mainland. I graduated from UBC in 2023, having completed an MEd in Early Childhood Education. I am an avid reader and love exploring nature outdoors.

Dyllan brings a background in post-secondary education, academic administration, and student services to her role as Registrar at Kootenay Columbia College. She holds a Master of Arts in Children’s Literature from the University of Roehampton, a Bachelor’s of Education from UBC, a Bachelor’s of English from TRU, and is currently completing her Doctor of Education at Edgewood College, specializing in online learning and educational technology.

With experience supporting students across academic upgrading, English, and communications programs, Dyllan is passionate about creating accessible, supportive, and efficient pathways for student success. She is excited to be part of the KCC community, helping students navigate their educational journeys with care and clarity.
Outside of work, Dyllan enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her dogs.

Rhea moved to Nelson in February 2025, drawn by the area’s natural beauty and the promise of a quieter, more peaceful lifestyle. She quickly fell in love with the stunning surroundings and the strong sense of community the town offers.

 

Since 2020, Rhea has built a solid career in administration, gaining experience both locally and internationally. Her professional journey has taken her through diverse sectors—including the casino industry, construction, the automotive industry, and now the academic field. These varied experiences have equipped her with a broad skill set and the adaptability needed to thrive in her role.

 

Outside of work, Rhea enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, especially walking in the sunshine and exploring the many parks and trails around Nelson. She finds inspiration and balance in nature, which complements her professional life and enhances her overall well-being.

Shagun Dua holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Canada and is an Intermediate Chartered Accountant from India. She brings a rich professional background with several years of experience in finance, student management, and sales, making her uniquely equipped to guide students in both academic and career planning.

Over the past six years, Shagun has worked closely with educational institutions and corporate organizations, combining strategic thinking with a people-centered approach. Prior to joining Kootenay Columbia College, she served as an Assistant Director of Admissions, where she led admissions initiatives, mentored teams, and supported student success through innovative outreach and enrollment strategies.

Alethia is a graphic designer with 7 years of experience, beginning her career in Mexico’s luxury fashion retail sector, she built expertise in various design fields, including creative marketing campaign development, web design, photography, and video editing, among others. She also ventured into freelancing, refining her skills in branding and consulting for marketing and design projects. At KCC, Alethia ensures brand consistency, contributes to creative concept development, and designs both digital and print media. She also creates assets for websites, social media, and presentations.

Now living in Victoria, BC, she moved to Canada in 2023 to pursue a diploma in UX/UI design to further enhance her skills. Outside of work, she has a passion for languages and is currently studying French.
