About Kootenay Columbia College

About Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences (KCCIHS), formerly the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences (ACOS), is a well-established post-secondary College since 1996. KCCIHS has been accredited by the provincial government for over 20 years. The College is also a designated institute through the BC Student Assistance Program (Student Aid BC), and all diploma programs offered at KCCIHS qualify for funding options. This standing means that our programs, instructors, and facilities are all government approved and regulated and that our programs are eligible for student loans.

The heart of KCCIHS lies in our amazing teaching faculty and students. Our faculty consists of passionate individuals, many of whom run successful private practices or have decades of experience working in their modalities. We are lucky at KCCIHS to have such a diverse teaching staff, ranging from Medical Doctors, Herbalists, Chiropractors, RMTs, Acupuncturists, Osteopaths, Doctors of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Naturopaths and many more.

KCCIHS has four campuses located in beautiful downtown Nelson where students can enjoy all the best that the town has to offer. We specialize in small class sizes, with most of our programs running with cohorts of around 15 to 25 students.

Accreditation and Recognition

KCCIHS offers a distinct and multi-disciplinary approach to all our programs. The College continues to diversify its education offerings. The College has received full accreditation and recognition through the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC) and College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of BC (CTCMA). Furthermore, the College also holds representation in the BC Career College Association.
