Graduation Day in Nelson: Honouring KCC’s RMT and TCM Graduates

Honouring KCC’s RMT and TCM Graduates

On August 23, Nelson, BC came alive with pride and celebration as Kootenay Columbia College marked a key moment for its Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) students.

Graduation was more than a ceremony. It was a recognition of persistence, skill, and commitment to learning. Family members, friends, instructors, and staff filled the space to witness this achievement, each one sharing in the sense of accomplishment.

Valedictorian Anika Travers spoke on behalf of her peers, stating:

“This class is made up of some of the most remarkable people I have ever met.”

Her words summed up the experience of a group that faced challenges, supported one another, and grew into professionals ready to serve. These graduates didn’t just finish programs. They mastered demanding fields that call for focus, skill, and compassion.

What It Takes to Become an RMT or TCM Graduate

Success in these programs is earned through consistency and determination. Kootenay Columbia College prepares students for real-world practice from the very start.

In the RMT program, students gain in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques. They work with clients in supervised clinical settings, learning to assess needs and provide effective treatment.

In the TCM program, students explore acupuncture, herbal medicine, and holistic care practices rooted in centuries of tradition. They combine this knowledge with modern health perspectives, preparing to treat patients with confidence and care.

These programs require more than theory. They demand hours of practice, critical thinking, and ongoing reflection. By graduation day, students are ready not only to enter their fields but to make a meaningful impact in their communities.

A Day to Celebrate and Thank Those Who Made It Possible

Graduation also honored the support networks behind each student. Families provided encouragement during long study nights. Friends offered strength through tough exams. Instructors brought patience, guidance, and deep expertise. Staff ensured the learning environment stayed strong and supportive.

Every handshake and word of thanks carried weight. It was a shared celebration of effort, resilience, and success.
