At Kootenay Columbia College, we are fortunate to have remarkable graduates who not only excel in their professions but also leave a lasting impact on our school and community. This year, we are proud to recognize Ella as our Alumni of the Year, a shining example of passion, dedication, and lifelong learning.
Ella graduated from Kootenay Columbia College in 2020 from our Registered Massage Therapy program. From the very beginning, she demonstrated a deep commitment to her profession, her peers, and her clients. During her time with us, Ella served as an RMT Instructor and Assistant Clinic Manager, Supervisor, where she cared for and guided students on their educational journeys. Her kindness, leadership, and professionalism earned her the admiration and respect of both students and colleagues.
Since graduation, Ella’s career has been nothing short of inspiring. She has worked in multidisciplinary clinics alongside physiotherapists and other RMTs, expanding her clinical expertise and embracing collaboration in healthcare. Her approach reflects her belief that massage therapy is not just a standalone practice, but an important cog in the larger wheel of health and wellness.
True to her passion for growth, Ella went on to earn her Bachelor of Health Sciences from Thompson Rivers University, studying psychology, healthcare ethics, and health policy. Now, she is preparing to begin her Master’s in Occupational Therapy, further advancing her vision of holistic healthcare and making an even greater difference in people’s lives.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ella is an adventurous and vibrant person. Born and raised in the West Kootenays, she finds joy outdoors, whether skiing, hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, or exploring the trails with her dog. She also has a background in competitive gymnastics, where she excelled as an athlete, coach, and judge. This active lifestyle naturally influences her practice, as she has a special interest in working with athletes and active individuals, supporting them in maintaining peak performance, preventing injuries, and recovering with strength and resilience.
Ella has also pursued advanced training in Fascial Stretch Therapy (Levels 1 & 2), as well as specialized education in cervical spine and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) assessment and treatment. Her clients and students alike benefit from her ability to integrate diverse therapeutic approaches, tailoring her care to meet the unique needs of each individual.
Through every chapter of her journey, Ella has shown us what it means to be a leader, a mentor, and a compassionate healthcare professional. She embodies the values of our college and demonstrates how dedication, curiosity, and a heart for helping others can create a profound ripple effect in the community.
As Ella embarks on her next chapter in Occupational Therapy, we wish her every success and know she will continue to inspire those around her. Ella, thank you for the light you’ve brought to our school, to your clients, and to everyone fortunate enough to learn from and work alongside you.
